Battalion Rover Heat - The Smart Toolbox
Rover Heat is one of our newest products that we designed and developed for Battalion. What is Rover Heat? What does it make it special?
Rover Heat is the world's first smart toolbox. It has a display, Bluetooth, electronic lock, heating, and so on. As it is the first of its kind product, it came with a lot of challenges during product design and development.
It took over a year to finalize all the design and development work. We did multiple non-working, working prototypes and performed countless tests.

In order to decide the heating element, we did some heating tests in the cold chamber. The cold chamber temperature is -20C. We used graphene and aluminium heating elements during our test.
While the graphene heats up very fast compared to the aluminium, the total time to heat inside the box from -15C to 5C is only 2-3 minutes faster than aluminium. But the price of graphene is way more expensive, so we decided to aluminium heater as the heating element. It gives the efficient heating with optimum price.
After fixing the dimensions, overall design, heating element, etc. then we started working on our 2nd prototype. This time it is a full function working prototype with all electronics built in. It is not perfect but we are getting there.

And sometimes we got support. Here is a small workshop, a family business, he helped us to weld our metal handle for the prototype.
And the final prototype is almost like a mass product. Beautiful finishing and all functions are working.
Right now the project is ongoing. Next edit will include our journey on tooling, certification and mass production stages.
